‘The Cass graduate is turning heads with his playful, minimalist furniture inspired by the forms found on construction sites, bike racks and play parks.’ Icon Magazine 2017.

British-born designer James Stickley started out in TV as an art director and set designer. He completed his MA in design at The Cass in 2012. After winning a Conran Shop competition with his Stick Lamp in 2014, James set up his design studio in Bethnal Green, London.

James believes the longevity of an object, is routed in a combination of both its uniqueness, and its familiarity. He sees his work as sculptural objects rather than furniture, which explore the space between art and design. Inspiration comes from the manmade forms present in everyday surroundings: construction sites, rails, pipework, buildings, tiles, typography and a particular obsession with tubular metal which runs throughout his work. He blends his rich understanding of form and colour to create striking yet simple geomatic forms, reinforced in bold finishes.

Items are all made to order.
